XI

I was tagged by both new bloggy pal Dr. Bolte and old bloggy pal Tiff for this meme. My first tag ever is also a double tag! Yay!

Post the rules on your blog:
- Write six random things about yourself in a blog post
- Tag six people in your post
- Let each person know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
- Let the tagger know your entry is up
1. Whenever I drink something with a straw, I have to bite the straw flat and drink whatever it is through the flat side. It used to drive my mom crazy but now I think she just ignores it. It's problematic however, when I get what some parts of the country call a tapioca or bubble tea drink (I get mine from a place called Chewy Balls) because the straw is gigantic. I still bite my straw flat, but this takes some effort. That's really because I'm also giggling about the name Chewy Balls.

2. I listen to NPR every day. When I'm at my desk I listen to 88.7 in Houston online, but when I'm in my car it's the university run affiliate station. For no reason other than my being incredibly naive, I feel like I'm the only one listening, and that makes me feel good. Like when I listen to The Old Time Music Hour That's Not A Prairie Home Companion, I'm listening to my folksy old people friends talk about how country western used to be so good. Or when my favorite Saturday show, Gardening in the Brazos Valley comes on, it's like the gardening advice is just for me. The only downside is the overwhelming amount of guilt I feel during their pledge drive week.

3. I love Sociology, but the one thing I regret from my undergraduate degree is not getting a B.A. in Art History. In my stack of summer reading I have at least two art history related books and will probably add more from my book collection in storage at my parent's house. But to make sure my B.S. doesn't isn't entirely useless I'll occasionally look up a sociology article in Google scholar to read and think about the paper I could write about it.

4. I'm kind of a picky eater. I hate lettuce and tomatoes in sandwiches but I love lettuce and I'm starting to tolerate tomatoes when I'm eating salad. Once at a summer camp I told everyone I was allergic to hot dogs because I didn't like them. I will only eat broccoli when it's cooked and cauliflower when it's raw. If you mix a bag of Skittles in the same bowl as a bag of M&Ms at a party, I will assume you have no taste buds. If that's not true, then you are just a horrible human being, and I will "accidentally" break one of your plates.

5. I am fascinated by robots but wise enough not to trust them.

6. Since elephants are the symbol of the Republican party, and I collected them, growing up I assumed that made me a Republican. In sixth grade my social studies teacher had us choose sides by walking to one end of the class room or another, and how far to the left or right we walked demonstrated how strongly we felt about the response. I can't remember the question but one answer had me walking so far to the left that I was out of the classroom. To be fair, it had more to do with the response of a boy I had a crush on, who also left the room. Love had introduced me to liberal politics and by extension, the Democratic party. In college I converted completely to the Democratic side, which I find amusing considering the university I attended. I joined the College Democrats and served as an officer. That, combined with my degree title, and my dad would tell people I was getting a bachelor's degree in socialism. I consider myself an Independent now, but to my dad, I'll always kind of be a socialist.

I now tag Gretch-a-sketch, Stella, Srah, and Stephanie if they want to do this meme. I know I missed some people, so I also tag anyone else who wants to do it.

Who would mix Skittles and M&Ms in the same bowl? What kind of horrible parties do you go to?

I know I've been to at least one that mixed them in the same bowl.

I just try to avoid parties that have Skittles at all.

skittles and m&ms in the same bowl? shudder. you're right. anyone who would do that is delusional.

also...nobody collects donkeys. perhaps if democrats were GIRAFFES...hmm. interesting.

I love donkeys like nobody's business, but it's never occurred to me to collect them. Probably because nothing is as cute as the real thing.

I knew someone who owned a donkey! And a lot of kids I knew growing up had horses but one of them had a llama.

It was so unfair.

My comment might make more sense if you knew that I going on the assumption that since donkeys are cute, everyone would want to own one. I've been up for a long time, so I'm not sure what makes sense.

Collecting live donkeys would probably be a pretty expensive hobby, what with the boarding and the donkey chow and such.

so I just ate these new M&M's that are Indiana Jones flavored, and they are shaped and colored like Skittles! Confusing.

Also, I'm super late on the bloggy swap thing, but now I totally know what to get you. A tomato.

Hey, I do the same thing with my straws! It's nice, cuz I can always tell my drink apart from everyone else's.

Thanks for the tag. :) I did this one not to long ago (my first tag ever!).

PS- Sorry I haven't visited. I'm such an idiot that I forgot to subscribe to your Blogger blog and get rid of the old one. Now, let me catch up on your posts. :)
